Community Colleges

So I'm reading this article in inside higer ed about how community colleges are short changed when it comes to funding and how they are misunderstood. And, I so agree. Rural community colleges really get shafted: we tend to be small, our tax base tends to be minuscule, our states adopt funding formula which fail to recognize that good rural education costs more than good urban/suburban education... . Also, our K-12 feeders are underfunded and are under-preparing their graduates for us. Hence, we spend a ton on remediation. Typically, urban/suburban community colleges get students from high schools which have Library Media Specialists running their libraries. Rural high school libraries, if run by anyone, are often run by
a Library Tech/Food Service Coordinator.....gag
